Results
4×
faster feature design cycles
Within 2 sprints
60%
reduction in designer-to-engineer handoff time
Design cycle time from Linear sprint data, 2 sprints pre/post. Handoff time from internal Notion tracking by design leads.
Situation
Tessera's design and engineering teams had scaled faster than their tooling. Every new feature was built from scratch. There was no component library, no naming convention, no shared source of truth. Feature development was slowing because designers were reinventing the same patterns every sprint.
What we did
- 01
Audited every UI pattern across four product surfaces before writing a single component
- 02
Built a library of 80 components, documented with usage guidance and anti-patterns
- 03
Established design tokens for colour, type, spacing, and elevation across Figma and code
- 04
Shipped a new admin dashboard as the first product built entirely within the new system
